Try not to wonder what the weather will be

I'm going to say it, the weather is getting me down. I'm not usually one of those people that fret about whether we'll get a 'proper' summer or not, and I certainly don't dislike the rain. I grew up in a house with a bedroom on the top floor, and one of my greatest pleasures was lying in bed listening to the soothing sound of it drumming on the roof above. But these past few weeks, and the promise of more unsettled weather to come, are getting to me. Grey skies and puddles, broken umbrellas and leaking boots and a camera that has barely been used of late.

I took these a few weeks ago, when the sky was blue and the magnolias were exploding all over London.

  1. These are gorgeous images, Becky - the magnolias against blue sky are just stunning. I'm a fan of weather for ducks but I do feel for the sun lovers!

  2. Magnolias are amongst my favourites.

However, the rain is not. I'm bored of it too.

  3. I never minded the rain until I had to deal with a leaking chimney a few years ago. I thought I was finally over that (I can sleep through a heavy storm now - yay!), but I've got to admit: I'm getting bored of all this gloomy weather. I want to sit outside amongst the flowers!

  4. Beautiful pictures. We have a Magnolia tree in our garden and I'm allergic to it :( Nevertheless I love when it's in bloom as spring is here. I wish this rain would go away!!!

  6. I love the photos in this post, but also in your most recent post, you capture the beauty of sunshine and rain : ) I hope London is a little sunnier. I really enjoyed your memory of being in your bedroom and hearing the rain drumming on the roof. It transported me back to my own childhood, curled up in bed with a book hearing the wind and the rain outside!

  7. Gorgeous pics :) This week is pretty sunny in Scotland... it's nice but I feel fretful that it'll pass too quickly! (Though I do agree the sound of rain on a roof... especially a caravan roof (that's what I used to holiday in with Nana and Papa as a child) is just magical) x
