You must be somewhere in London // You must be loving your life in the rain

This is what London looks like in the rain.

I wasn't at work on Thursday, so instead went to Yayoi Kusama at the Tate Modern (go if you can, the Infinity Mirror Room alone is worth the trip - it is entrancing) then walked along the river from Bankside to Southbank, just as the sky turned from grey to greyer and the heavens opened.

I was without a functioning umbrella, my green mac darkened, water seeped into my boots, my hair dripped raindrops. I met a professional pianist sheltering under the Oxo Tower who shook my hand and gave me his card, my camera got an outing, and in the BFI cafe I warmed up with a hot chocolate. It may have been grey and wet, but it wasn't so very bad.

And yesterday I woke to sunshine (and a day stuck in the office, alas), but this morning the sun is also shining, and on today's weather forecast there is not a raincloud in sight.

I'm off to make the most, enjoy your weekend people!

Two titles in as many posts with lyrics from The National, but they just seemed appropriate.

  1. I have to say, I think London in the rain is beautiful.

I read an interview with Alexander McCall Smith recently, and he said that having lived in drought ridden South Africa when he was young, he found is strange that us Scots complained about the abundance of rain. I have been trying not to whine about it since then! I should follow your example.

  2. Gosh I love your rain pictures... ok, next time it rains I'm not hiding indoors, I'm going out with my camera. Love that fact that you met a pianist too like that. (Also great nail polish colour!) :)
